Every student gets a written practice plan after each lesson. Over the first year, most students learn to:
Read treble and bass clef with confidence
Play with both hands, steady rhythm and good posture
Learn chords well enough to accompany a song
Prepare two pieces for our winter or spring recital
Adults can focus on the music they love, from Bach to film scores to jazz standards.
Do we need a piano at home?
A digital piano with 88 weighted keys is perfect for the first years. We are happy to help you choose one.
What age is right to start?
Around five for most children. Younger kids start in Early Music, our class for ages 4 to 6.
Can adults start from zero?
Yes. About a third of our piano students are adults, and our oldest beginner started at 79.
